Today marks the first 100 days of our new First Minister, Eluned Morgan. During this time, she has been on a listening tour of Wales, seeking your views on the things that matter to you most. Following this feedback, she published her priority areas for this government. As we reach this 100-day milestone, we invited her to reflect on her time in office so far and what she has achieved…
When I became First Minister, I travelled across the whole of Wales hearing about the things that were most important to you.
I said I was here to listen and now I am focused on delivering for you.
These are some of the headlines in my first hundred days in the job:
You said that public services like health and education really mattered to you – so we awarded inflation busting pay rises to the hundreds of thousands of people who work in these services and serve us every day.
We’ve helped to bring in over £1billion pound in investment, creating hundreds of quality jobs across Wales.
The cost of living means many are struggling -so we have made life easier for those with young children, completing the roll out of free school meals to all primary school pupils.
On the NHS we’ve listened and invested an extra £30m to bring down the longest NHS waits.
And we’ve made sure that we’ve connected thousands of businesses and communities with our £12m Local Broadband Fund.
We’ve approved 5 new renewable energy projects, with the potential to provide power equivalent to over 180,000 Welsh homes.
And we’ve opened a brand-new medical school in North Wales to create the next generation of Welsh doctors.
This is in addition to a host of other announcements we’ve made, which you can see on our announcements page.
There is much more on the list of things we’ve already delivered and more to come. Not a bad start – but I know we have more to do!
