Cycle September has come to an end, but cycling to work is not just a September or summer thing. At the Welsh Government we have a number of initiatives to encourage cycling to work, including the Cycle to Work scheme which helps staff pay for a bike through a salary sacrifice scheme.
One of our colleagues, Alex, is all too familiar with travelling to the office on two wheels and embraces this all year ‘round. While the pandemic led to more hybrid working at the Welsh Government, Alex has found ways around this by setting up his own “virtual commute”. For 10 years now we’ve been celebrating Shwmae Su’mae day on 15 October which is a day to celebrate Cymraeg and show that it belongs to us all. Shwmae is a south Wales way of saying a hello, Su’mae is used in the north. They’ll both be heard up and down the country this weekend. How are you celebrating this year?
